Litchfield County Named One Of Northeast's Best Spots For 'Leaf Peeping'

Vogue magazine recently released its top nine places in the Northeast to see the bright oranges, yellows, and browns bloom as fall arrives, and Connecticut snagged two of those spots.

It's peak leaf-peeping season in the Northeast.

Mystic in New London County was chosen because of the amenities available to foliage fetishists who stop to check out the leaves, Vogue wrote

"Being just a quick train ride from Boston or New York City makes this coastal Connecticut town a popular weekend getaway for city folk — and its charming surroundings make it a favorite shoot location for Hallmark movies," the article states.

Mystic scored points because there is a lot to do while leaf peeping like taking a stroll along the Mystic River, visiting the aquarium, or checking out some of the award-winning restaurants in the town.

Litchfield County also made the list.

Vogue said visiting the county is like going back in time as its "charming, bucolic side remains intact." The magazine said visitors should book a stay at the Mayflower Inn & Spa in Washington for some rest and relaxation while taking in the sights.

Vogue also named Portland and Kennebunkport, Maine, Stowe, Vermont, the White Mountains in New Hampshire, Boston and the Berkshires in Massachusetts, and Newport, Rhode Island.
